Wonderland Costume Round Up: Humpty Dumpty

Hello avid blogstalkers! I'm on the road this weekend headed to yet another wedding, but I couldn't forget about you just as my "following" is building, and just over a month from Halloween! So, I've gone ahead and put together a whole bunch of entries to be posted while I'm gone - you'll hardly miss me at all! Let's start with another COSTUME ROUND UP! This time it's Humpty Dumpty - did you know Humpty Dumpty is a character in "Through the Looking Glass?" True! And there are lots of fun ways to interpret HD into a great costume, such as Matt Lauer wore on air last year:

What's that? You don't have a professional costume team at your beck and call? Okay, then how about this mass-produced Humpty costume available at BuyCostumes.com for around $66

Not bad! and it's "New for 2009." Rather make your own? Here's how you can do it in two dimensions. It might be a little difficult to sit, or otherwise participate in our party's secret "entertainment", but that's up to you. Might just make it funnier I suppose:

Looking for something in all 3 dimensions? Got a baby bump or pot belly? USE it!

Or just "use your head":

I love that one, it's vaguely creepy and reminds me of Peewee's Playhouse.

Speaking of creepy, you can't see a lot of this "costume" but when searching for images I found this horror movie poster:

Humpty Dumpty = evil, who knew? Well, don't worry too much, you remember what happens to him, right? So how about coming as the post-fall HD, like Gwen Stefani here:

And here's the same idea, but in a homemade version (which would be SIMPLE to do):

If you're highly motivated, you could come as the king's horses/king's men:

Did anyone catch Ricky Gervais' comedy show running right now? He's got a great bit about Humpty Dumpty and the flawed logic behind calling in horses to fix a broken egg. Hee-larious.

Here's a tutorial on how to make this bacon & eggs costume by HGTV.

And on a completely different note, the funniest thing I came across when searching for images of "egg costume":

Yeah, those are all sperm, and apparently someone in their group dressed as a slightly different kind of egg (though I didn't find that photo). Quite humorous.

All images purloined through Google Images and collected here for your inspiration - happy costuming!

The costume shop I work for has all the costumes from the Today show last year - including this amazing Humpty Dumpty - i have had it and the Gingerbread Man on. They are even more stunning in person!

I bet they were part of the Fallopian Swim Team.
